FRESH BAKED CINNAMON ROLLS

sign with Grandmas old fashioned cinnamon rolls

There are many names for this sweet delicacy: Cinnamon Roll, Cinnamon Bun, Sticky Rolls, or Sticky Buns. Since the 18th century, they have been a popular, quite sweet, and true to their name, sticky breakfast pastry in America. Baked from sweet yeast dough with milk, brown sugar, and cinnamon, sometimes with raisins depending on the recipe. White vanilla glaze - frosting - is, in my opinion, a must, even if your fingers get sticky afterwards! My personal favorite: Fresh Baked Cinnamon Rolls from an Amish Bakery. If you've now developed a taste for it, feel free to give it a try. Here's my recipe for the delicious vanilla glaze with our vanilla:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 melted teaspoon of butter
  • 1 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey vanilla
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons milk

Mix in a bowl (spread directly over the warm pastry). Alternatively, I also use the Vanilla Bean Paste, which shows the black specks from the vanilla pod. Enjoy!
