Did you know that the concocted but world famous saying “I love New York“ was not only a slogan, but also the name of the marketing campaign for the state of New York, and New York City, in particular? The Big Apple’s reputation needed to be cleaned up a bit , and thus the city chose a broad image campaign.

The world famous “I love New York“ logo seen on this magnet with white background was sketchedDrafted in the framework of the previously mentioned campaign in 1975 during a taxi ride by the graphic designer, Milton Glaser. Because the designer did not think the campaign would be successful, he did not accept a commission for his work developing the logo.
